Things to do: on the coast

Sea safaris and boat trips

You don’t have to go overseas when it comes to safaris in Cornwall, with dozens of trips to pick from, a variety of incredible sea life and glistening coves waits just on our doorstep.

Newquay Sea Safaris & Fishing

Become one with adventure as you cruise hidden coves and explore secret beaches around Newquay’s coastlines. It’s an unforgettable opportunity to see sea life in its natural habitat. If you’re lucky, come face to face with Newquay’s infamous dolphins and seals (and on occasion even sharks) as you coast through clear Cornish waters. Learn first-hand about Cornwall’s fascinating marine life from experts in a once-in-a-lifetime trip. Like us, they’re dog friendly, so feel free to bring your four-legged friend along for the ride. If you dare, experience shark cage diving where you may come face to face with colossal basking sharks – a rare opportunity not to be missed.

Orca Sea Safaris

Based in Falmouth, Orca Sea Safaris take you on a trip around Cornwall’s spectacular waters with rare opportunities to see dolphins, sharks and even whales meaning it's worth the trip out a little further a field as it's one of the few whale watching safaris in Cornwall. With sightings of minke whales, basking sharks, common dolphins, seals and more you’ll experience a whole underwater world that’s closer than you thought.

Coast Boat Trips

Coast Boat Trips bring the opportunity to see Cornwall’s natural wonders first hand with trips specialising in geology, wildlife, weather, historic landmarks and more. If you’re looking for an all-rounder, Coast offer boat trips from Penzance and St Ives Bay, Hayle, - a short drive away. They also offer a private hiring service where you and your family can have your own private captain and wildlife guide for the day.

Wavehunters

Wavehunters, who are based not far from us in Padstow, offer a variety of fun water activities from boat trips to sea safaris to surf lessons. Cruise through sparkling waters on sight seeing trips, explore hidden coves, and spot seals, dolphins and puffins in their natural habitat. They also offer private chartering services - perfect for a family day out in the sun (or even light Cornish rain).

Surfing & water sports

See why everyone comes to Cornwall to surf and experience the thrill of gliding through crashing waves on our glistening coastlines.

Newquay Activity Centre

Learn to surf on the UK’s most famous beach with Fistral Beach Surf School at Newquay Activity Centre. Alongside surfing, they offer a variety of fun sea activities such as coasteering around Newquay’s hidden coves, paddleboarding, bodyboarding, kayaking and more. As for location, Newquay is perfect for all things fun, summer and sea.
