Accessibility

Bedruthan is spread out over a sloping clifftop – this can limit the accessibility to some parts of our hotel.

If you have any accessibility requirements, please talk to us before booking. Our reservations team can answer any detailed questions about rooms, spaces and facilities at our coastal hotel.

We have a dedicated accessible sea view bedroom that sleeps four. Please talk to the reservations team directly if you’d like this room – it cannot be booked online.

This room features a seated shower with assistance rails, a lower toilet and a lower sink basin. Emergency pull cords are fitted in both the bathroom and main bedroom. An illuminated alarm beacon and vibrating pads under the pillows will activate in case of a hotel emergency (e.g. fire alarm).

All other bedrooms—besides the villa rooms and all but one of the apartments—are accessible via the lift. Flooring in sleeping and lounge areas is either timber, tiled or carpeted. Bathrooms are tiled.

Furniture can be moved or removed from any bedroom if needed. All bedding at Bedruthan is non-feather.

The central block of Bedruthan is serviced by a lift. Our lift is equipped with raised buttons and audio feedback. The lift can be used to access:

  • The Wild Café
  • The Cocktail Bar and outdoor terrace
  • The Create shop and gallery
  • The Tranquility Lounge
  • Parts of the Ballroom

Please note that the lift doesn’t serve:

  • The Herring
  • Bedruthan Spa
  • The Garden Room
  • Villa rooms
  • Apartments rooms (apart from one apartment within the central hotel block)

The Venue has its own separate entrance that is level with the car park.

Step-free, ramped access to The Herring can be arranged.

Many of Bedruthan’s outdoor spaces, including the dune gardens, may not be suitable for wheelchair users.

From the main area of Bedruthan, there is no step-free access to Bedruthan Spa. The spa can be accessed using a flight of stairs with hand rails. Alternatively, you can drive along a rear access road which leads directly to the spa.

Inside Bedruthan Spa, there is a larger changing cubicle with a shower and toilet, designed to be accessible for a wheelchair user and a carer.

The spa’s hydropool is accessed by a wide set of steps with a handrail. The thermal spa’s caldarium, steam room and sauna are all on the same level.

Bedruthan’s conference centre is accessed by an entryway that is level with the Bedruthan car park. It has its own accessible toilet.

Two dedicated, accessible parking spaces are to the left of Bedruthan’s entrance – these can be reserved in advance. Porters are on-hand to help with luggage.

For step-free access to Mawgan Porth beach, please drive down to the valley and park in the beachside car park.

Bedruthan happily welcomes guide dogs – just let us know at booking.

Accessible toilets can be found in The Venue, Bedruthan Spa, and on the corridor between Create and the Wild Café. All with natural stone floors, they feature pull-cord emergency alarms and assistance rails (bathrooms at Bedruthan Spa and the Venue also feature sensor-operated taps).

Each is also designed so that tiles and sanitaryware colour-contrast. All accessible bathrooms at Bedruthan have a free area of 98cm next to the toilet for transferring, alongside an unobstructed area within the bathroom of 1.5m by 1.6m.
