Join us on our stunning sea-view lawn for some award-winning theatre. There will be a BBQ, a well-stocked bar and, if we’re lucky, a wonderful sunset to end the show.

Join us for another summer of award-winning theatre on our stunning sea view lawn. This year we have teamed up with Illyria and Quantum Theatre to bring you performances of The Adventures of Dr. Dolittle and The Reluctant Dragon. Bring the little ones along to experience some family-friendly theatre, settle down on our stunning sea-view lawn and enjoy the beautiful coastal surroundings. There will also be a well-stocked bar with plenty of food and drink to buy throughout the performances.

Both shows will take place outdoors on our level, grassy area with a sweeping sea view backdrop, so we encourage you to bring picnic rugs or chairs and something warm to wear for when the sun goes down. We hope you enjoy another season of theatre with us!

Are you staying at the Bedruthan while the theatre is on the lawn? You get free tickets as part of your stay! Please ask reservations when booking or at reception during your stay. On the day please collect your ticket from reception.

As it is peak season our car park is very busy, so we recommend parking in Mawgan Porth beach car park. Why not take a nice stroll along the beach and up the coastal path. Upon arrival head to our sea view lawn and check in at the desk near the Surf Shack. Please have your tickets ready either on your mobile phone or printed out.

The Adventures of Dr. Dolittle by Illyria – Sold Out

Thursday 16th August

When Doctor John Dolittle of Puddleby-on-the-Marsh is taught by his wise old parrot Polynesia how to talk to animals, news of his skills spreads far and wide. Soon animals across the world send messages asking for his help. So, he buys a leaky old ship and, together with his trusty pet-crew of Jip the dog, Chee-Chee the monkey, Dab-Dab the Duck and permanently hungry Gub-Gub the pig, sets forth on a mission to heal illness, spread compassion and gain a greater understanding of the animal kingdom.

A funny, much-loved and exciting adventure, with a strong message about responsibility towards animals and the environment, this show is created by the same Illyria team who brought you an entire menagerie of animal puppets in Danny Champion of the World and a life-size T-Rex in The Lost World.

Arrive from 4.30pm, performance starts at 5pm with a running time one hour and 40 minutes including a 20 minute interval.

Suitable for those aged 5+.

The Reluctant Dragon by Quantum Theatre

In this beloved classic story, a young boy befriends a poetry-loving dragon living in the Downs above his home. When the town-folk send for St. George to slay the dragon, the boy needs to come up with a clever plan to save his friend and convince the townsfolk to accept him.

A classic retelling of St George and the Dragon from the author of The Wind in the Willows, Kenneth Grahame, The Reluctant Dragon is a funny, touching and enchanting story of bravery, friendship and derring-do.

Arrive from 4.30pm, performance starts at 5pm with a running time one hour and 40 minutes including an minute interval.
