Join us on our stunning sea-view lawn for some award-winning theatre. There will be a BBQ, a well-stocked bar and, if we’re lucky, a wonderful sunset to end the show.

Each year Bedruthan teams up with local theatre companies to bring you performance from across Cornwall. This year we have teamed up with Miracle Theatre and Illyria to perform The Third Policeman on the 22nd June and The Emperor’s New Clothes on 2nd & 15th August respectively.  Tickets are available to purchase now, please use the online booking form below – you will be redirected to the Eventbrite website to enter your details.

The Performances will take place outdoors on a level, grassy area with a sweeping sea view backdrop, so bring picnic rugs or chairs and something warm to wear for when the sun goes down.  There is limited parking at the hotel, but there is plenty of parking in Mawgan Porth Village and you can walk along the beach and up the coast path to the hotel where the ‘doors’ to the performances will open one hour before start of the show. We will have plenty of food and drink for you to buy and enjoy throughout the performance. Regrettably refunds cannot be given for inclement weather unless the performance is cancelled.

The Third Policeman – 22nd June
Written by Flann O’Brien
A Surreal Comic Adventure
Adapted by Bill Scott, Meiert Avis and Robert Bayley

This summer Cornwall’s Miracle Theatre ventures into a world somewhere between Alice in Wonderland and Father Ted, where the earth is not round but sausage-shaped; where eccentric policemen fall in love with bicycles and you can visit eternity via a rickety lift, hidden beside a lane in the heart of rural Ireland. With its hilarious characters, streaks of dark humour and unforgettable plot twist, The Third Policeman earned its author, Flann O’Brien, a world-wide reputation as one of Ireland’s great comic geniuses. Flann O’Brien’s scorching wit and delicious turn of phrase, combined with Miracle’s delight in physical comedy and absurdity, has to be a winning combination. Fans of this cult classic and newcomers alike should expect the unexpected!

The Emperor’s New Clothes – 2nd & 15th August

Based on the timeless Hans Christian Andersen story, Illyria first performed this show in 2000 when it was Critic’s choice at the Edinburgh Fringe festival and attracted multiple 5-star reviews on a sellout UK tour.

The Emperor is a lovely man, but he’s not the best judge of character, and is often surrounded by idiots. What keeps him sane is the monthly Grand Parade at which he wears his newest outfit. When two swindlers spin a yarn and everyone is taken in, what price will he have to pay? Will the new clothes they make really enable him to weed out the idiots in his palace?  Or will he end up losing his crown jewels?  All will be revealed in Illyria’s cheekiest ever show!
