Spring Breaks in Cornwall: The Season the Locals Love Best

Written by Eve Hunter-Mann

Spring in Cornwall feels particularly special. Whether you're planning an Easter family break, a late-April spa escape, or a May holiday to catch the county's festivals, this is your guide to everything spring has to offer.

Things to Do in Cornwall During Spring

Those longer, brighter days welcome plenty of day trips and adventures; whether it's exploring gardens or visiting art exhibitions, there's something for everyone.

Art galleries

Wander through local art galleries, perfect for slow rainy days.

Art at the Beach is a beachside art gallery very literally just down the road from us in Mawgan Porth, perfect if you're just here for a short stay.

The Tate in St Ives is arguably the most famous art gallery in Cornwall, with famous names such as Barbara Hepworth and Bob Law showcasing their work.

Falmouth Art Gallery showcases a collection of unique artwork with pieces dating from as early as the 19th century and earlier! Just less than an hour's drive, it's another location for an unforgettable day trip.

Gardens

Once you've wandered through our blooming gardens and along the coastal paths, there's plenty more in Cornwall to visit.

Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens overlook St Michael's Mount in Penzance, with their beautiful tree sculptures and sub-tropical plants. Make a day of it as you wander through exotic ecosystems and visit their impressive art gallery.

Trenance Gardens in Newquay is less than a 20-minute drive away and features a picturesque cottage café, tranquil stream and stunning greenery. After wandering through cherry blossoms, indulge in a Cornish cream tea at the café for a pick-me-up.

The Japanese Garden, in St Mawgan, is also just a short drive away; with its spectacular bonsai, waterfalls and succulents. It's the perfect space to calm the mind and let go of stress.

Easter activities

The Eden Project holds an "Easter at Eden" event. Get stuck into games designed to help you explore the great outdoors and witness all the beautiful signs of spring.

Lanhydrock's Easter egg hunt is a great way to get all the family involved (with a bit of healthy competition!). Venture down their family-friendly trail with lots of fun activities to do along the way. Complete the trail and earn a chocolate egg at the end!

And if you're looking to celebrate Easter in style with friends or family, why not take a long stroll along the beach and then head up to our Wild Café for a delicious sea-view Sunday roast?
