Bedruthan Hotel #TBT Gallery

Bedruthan has been cherished by two generations of the same family for more than 50 years. Always a little ahead of fashion in hotel decor and design, Bedruthan has expanded and changed so much over the years. We had a hunt through our archives to create a then-and-now gallery of the hotel over the past five decades, to give you a trip down memory lane, and a sense of just how much it’s altered …

We’d love to share your stories, memories and pictures of past holidays you’ve enjoyed at Bedruthan over time. If you’d like to share them with us, please contact our marketing team on marketing@bedruthan.com or share on our Facebook page or twitter feed.

Indoor Spa Pool

Our indoor spa has changed a lot over the years – our hydropool jacuzzi has grown in size and been joined by a caldarium, steam room and sauna. Of course we’ve kept the floor-to-ceiling windows to make the most of the view of the beach below.

Cocktail Bar

Our cocktail bar in the 80s and 90s, and today. When it was refurbished, we posted out little pieces of the purple carpet to some of our guests who had been particularly attached to it and had requested a little bit of old Bedruthan to have at home.

The Herring Restaurant

Our main restaurant looks remarkably different today – gone are the buffet lunches and red tartan curtains and tablecloths, and in their stead are stylish modern seating booths and contemporary lighting. The curved ceilings still remain, although we’ve added sound ‘clouds’ to limit the echoes from the wooden flooring!

Sea view rooms

Our hotel bedrooms have gone through a number of redesigns over the years, each one featuring some iconic examples of art and furniture from that particular era. One constant that has never gone out of fashion is our stunning sea view, which always makes the cut during any upgrade.

Outdoor swimming pools

The hotel’s tennis courts and two outdoor pools have been Bedruthan icons for decades. We’re pleased to say that they are still here, now with a poolside bar, bee-friendly gardens, and plenty of picturesque places to sunbathe.

Childcare rooms

Our Z Club was once very different – housing an underground bar and swimming pool with crazy rock ceiling. The old ceiling remains, making it the perfect place to host our magical Christmas grotto.

Lanaii Poolside Bar

Our poolside bar has long been the place to spend a summer’s afternoon. Now with a roof, the Lanaii has become our Spa welcome lounge complete with a warming log burner so you can enjoy the sea view any time of year.
