Walking Events – Exploring Poldark’s Coast
26 September, 2017at 9:30 am - 5:00 pm£35
Where will we go?
Explore the cliffs and coves along Cornwall’s coast on a day-long walking adventure.
Stride into the sea breeze and be captivated by the drama of the coastline. Experience the sensations of the cliffside by uncovering hidden coves, gazing out over the vast blue of the Atlantic, and watching the seabirds soar through the sky above. The striking scenery provides a perfect backdrop to your own Cornish adventure.
Following in the footsteps of Ross Poldark and Demelza, the route is plotted along a section of the South West Coast Path and provides the inspiring sights that the three hundred mile path is known for. As you journey into the startling landscapes that have enthralled the audiences of Poldark, this guided walk will reveal the wildlife that is native to the cliffside such as scented wild flowers and varied marine life. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a pod of seals.
You will be collected from reception at 9:30 and we will aim to be back at the hotel by 5:00pm.
What do I need to bring?
For a full day you will need a good pair or shoes or boots, a packed lunch, waterproofs (if you don’t have them, let us know as we can help provide them), and a spare layer depending on the weather. Sunglasses, sun cream and a hat are also a good idea as well as a small rucksack for carrying your lunch.
How far is it?
This trek will involve a full day of moderate to hard walking, since Cornwall’s coastal paths are rocky, uneven and feature some steep ascents and descents. With Explore in Cornwall it is not so much how far as how long will we walk. We go at a pace to take in our surroundings but a whole day will vary in distance from 5 – 10 miles but will not normally take longer than 6-7 hours walking. There is so much to see that you will often feel you have explored much further than you actually have.
Do I need to be fit?
You need to be able to walk for the days you are booking – we are not providing adrenaline fuelled challenge experiences but walking in Cornwall does involve steep hills and rough footpaths and tracks so a reasonable level of fitness is required. If you are at all concerned please ask and we can provide detailed descriptions for each walk.
