After an inspiring day of creation and learning a new skill, indulge in a delicious meal and time in our restorative spa, before retreating to the comfort of your room. Our making breaks include:

Local artist Sarah Drew has been teaching at Bedruthan for many years and her courses always get rave reviews. She offers a fun and creative ‘beach finds’ day which involves browsing the foreshore for sea-glass, shells and smoothed plastics, before turning them into statement pieces.

Spend the day trying your hand at seasonal breads and other baked treats. From artisan baguettes to tasty doughnuts, learn the techniques and bake your breads in our sea-view garden room under guidance from our talented in-house Bedruthan bakers.

Join us Natalie from Natalie Blake Wedding Design and learn how to create a macrame wall hanging or dream catcher. These both make a wonderful addition to an adult’s or child’s bedroom, or a lovely outdoor decoration for an event or wedding too.

2nd November 2019

This taster session will teach you the basics of this Victorian contact printing technique which harnesses the power of the sun and the purity of water to develop stunning blue and white images. Be inspired by Bedruthan’s natural surroundings as you learn one of photography’s oldest processes, the Cyanotype. Photographic artist Josie Purcell will help you create your unique artworks, with plenty of inspiration to get your ideas flowing.

Run by Lyndsey of Anon Design Stationery and hosted at Bedruthan you will spend the morning with us learning how to create basic shapes with your calligraphy pen whilst working towards mastering the modern calligraphy alphabet and basic phrases. This workshop is perfect for those who are looking to expand their creative side.

Professional artist and printer Dena will inspire you with her enthusiasm for colour, pattern and print. We offer six week courses during which you’ll work with paper, fabric and a variety of printing techniques. You can also join us for a taster day, transforming a design into a hand cut stencil and printing onto a range of papers and fabric.

Claudine of Iron Lamb is a local crochet and knitwear designer who creates bright and beautiful crochet designs just down the road from us. She will teach you the basics: from the main stitches to work with to the types of wool you can use. Once you’ve mastered this, you can work on creating your very own cosy bobble hat, perfect for these cooler months.

Our lovely teacher, Jane, will guide you through plenty of hand building techniques. Try hand building, slabbing and using beautiful plate moulds. Jane will also give you the opportunity to throw with the potters wheel. You can come with an idea in mind, or simply be inspired on the day: create an abstract sculpture, delicate plate or bowl, the choice is yours!

Pyrography is the art of decorating wood with burn marks using special tools. Hayley from Splint and Umber will teach you the basics, explaining the different techniques you can use and how you can create patterns and designs.

These evening workshops are a wonderful taster into the beautiful world of fused glass. Run by Lisa Macfarlane of Art of Glass who has years of experience of glass craftsmanship you will learn the basics of fused glass whilst making a beautiful fused glass panel to decorate your home.
