Sustainable Christmas Gift Guide

By December 11, 2018Sustainability

Looking to be a bit more sustainable with your gift giving this year? Well, we have shopped around and come up with a few eco-friendly ideas for you this Christmas:

Reusable Bags
These bags are a great gift to help reduce waste and money during the weekly shop or a shopping spree. Most shops now sell reusable/material bags or if you are really creative you could make your own out of scrap pieces of material. Surfers Against Sewage sell tote bags made from bouncy castles that are perfect for shopping or a trip to the beach.

Reusable Water Bottle
If you need a gift for a fitness fanatic a reusable water bottle is the perfect gift. They are also handy for everyday use if this special someone is out and about or simply at work. There are also plenty of venues that will top of water bottles if you ask thanks to the ReFill scheme. Klean Kanteen offer a variety of stylish products from bottles to cups to tumblers, they’ve got you covered.

Reusable Cup
We all love a nice cup of coffee or tea when we are on the go, so why not buy that hot-beverage-loving friend or family member a reusable cup this Christmas! Ecoffee create beautifully patterned beverage cups out of bamboo, which are sustainable and perfect for the job of holding your drinks. Here at Bedruthan, we offer a 10% discount off a hot drink if you are using a reusable cup. And if you purchase an RCup from our Create Shop you get a free hot drink with your purchase.

Diary/Notebook
Is there someone on your list that loves a bit of stationary? We recommend a notebook or diary made from recycled paper or sustainability created and certified by The Forest Stewardship Council. Green Tulip are a great source for stationary with ethical, fair trade and organic products galore!

Bamboo Safety Razor
These eco-friendly safety razors are a great gift for anyone looking to make the change to ditch the plastic razors. We’d also recommend getting them razors, a bowl, a shaving brush and some shaving soap, so that they will be all ready to lather up before shaving. Bambaw sell eco-friendly bamboo safety razors, which will last for many years and can be recycled and composted at the end of its lifespan.

Organic Cotton Clothing
Go organic with your clothing purchases this Christmas! Green Fibres have a variety of clothes from t-shirts to nightwear to accessories all made out of organic and fair trade cotton. They have selling eco goods and garments for over 15 years, which protects the producers, protects the environment, even protects you from the chemicals found in regular cotton.

Charitable Donation
If you are looking for something a little different as a gift, you could make a charitable donation in their name to one of their favourite charities. Be it a homeless charity, animal charity or a charity that helps research a specific illness. They will be able to get updates on how the donation has helped the charity and sometimes they will even send a gift in return for donating.

Plant-Based Phone Case
Everyone has a phone these days, so why not encourage the change to a non-plastic phone case. Pela Case sell eco-friendly phone cases made of Flaxstic, which is comprised of compostable bioplastic elastomer and flax straw materials. Also, 5% from every case sale will go directly towards Oceana to help them preserve and protect all sea animals.
