Q&A with the Bedruthan Spa Team

Going to a spa for the first time or having a treatment you’ve never experienced before can be a little daunting. So we asked you what you wanted to know about our spa here at Bedruthan. Without further ado here are the answers to some of your burning questions:

“Is footwear provided or do I need to bring my own?”

We recommend bringing your own flip flops for maximum comfort. Our indoor spa can be accessed without the use of flip-flops, but our outdoor pools and Sensory Spa Garden is outside. So you’ll need footwear if you want to venture into the outdoors. We do also sell Gandy’s flip-flops if you would like to buy some on site. They support the next generation in developing countries through their orphanage programmes, something you can be proud to be wearing and supporting. Learn more about Gandy’s here.

“Are there robes and towels provided for us?”

If you are a hotel resident you will receive spa towels in your room as well as a robe. If you are joining us for a spa day, then we will provide you with a towel and robe for the day. With sustainability at our heart, we like to ensure each guest feels snug in a robe and towel without it costing the earth. We choose organic and naturally dyed materials that feel luxurious on the skin. We manage the laundry as efficiently as possible too. As an area that can make a huge difference to our carbon footprint, we ask where possible, for you to be mindful of the towels and robes you use and try to keep them for the day. But if you do splash them a little too much then feel free to ask for another!

“Do I need to leave a deposit for my spa treatment?”

We don’t take deposits or pre-payment prior to your time with us in our spa just in case you wish to change your experience, meaning less stress and more relaxation time for you. If you wish to buy a treatment or experience for someone, you can do so by purchasing a gift voucher for them. You can do this at our hotel reception or online. Do be mindful of our cancellation fee, a policy in place to help ensure if you aren’t coming somebody else gets to enjoy that space instead.

“How do I cancel a treatment or experience?”

We ask for 48 hours’ notice to cancel your appointment, make sure any changes you make are outside this timeframe to avoid a 75% charge. If you do need to move your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible so we can arrange a happy solution. No payment will be taken from your card on booking and we do ask you to make payment on the day when you arrive, if you have a gift voucher, please make sure you have it to present as payment.

“Can I come and use the spa facilities without having a treatment?”

Yes, you are more than welcome to use our indoor spa facilities and pool. We charge £20pp a day and recommend getting in touch with us to let us know you are coming and to check availability beforehand. You also have the option to combine a restorative spa session with our vegetarian mezze board and a taster plate of desserts to share for £35pp on our Spa and Lunch package. Or indulge in some time in our beautiful spa and pool combined with a glass of fizz and a delicious two-course dinner in our Herring Restaurant for £62.50pp on our Evening Spa and Dine package.

“What can I use/do at your spa whilst pregnant?”

Our sea view hydropool was designed with pregnancy in mind and is perfect for soothing those aches and pains. You can also relax in our caldarium and swimming pool too.

For something a little more personalised, choose one of our pregnancy treatments. Have a foot soak and consultation on the day so we can see how you feel at the time and design the treatment around you. During your first trimester enjoy a soothing hand or foot ritual, or add brightness with a facial. During your second and third trimester care for yourself and your bump, embrace body treatments with a pregnancy perfect ritual. Any treatments also safe during the first trimester. Or find your wild side in our Sensory Spa Garden with an adapted route that will leave you completely revitalised.

“Are children allowed in your spa? If so, what facilities are there for them?”

Children must be accompanied by an adult aged over 18 at all times in our spa. Children of all ages are welcomed into our indoor and outdoor swimming pools. However, our spa is reserved for grown-ups (or at least over 16yrs when accompanied by an adult). Family spa time for hotel residents is between 9am-9:30am each morning and is perfect for those wanting to experience the spa together.

“Is there any signal/WiFi in your spa?”

We can’t encourage enough the chance to put the phone down and admire the amazing sea view. However, we know sometimes it’s the perfect opportunity to catch up with your online world. Speak with our hosts for the WiFi password. While relaxing in our facilities you will notice that phone signal isn’t strong, however, we do have free Wi-Fi which anyone is more than welcome to use.

“Do you have lockers in your spa?”

Lockers are provided in our pool and indoor spa area for both hotel residents and day spa guests. You won’t need to bring along any change as they have a code operated lock system. Then you can spend time relaxing knowing that your belongings are tuck away safe and sound.

“Is there food and drink available in or near your spa?”

You’re not the only one who has a growling tummy after some time in the spa, your body is naturally detoxifying in the heat or whilst relaxing during a treatment. It’s important to nourish yourself with something light, that’s why we offer complimentary herbal tea or water in our indoor spa. In our Hotel Bar we offer a range of hot drinks and for a little more indulgence cakes, crisps and baked goods – after all, food that makes you smile can be the best for you. We offer Spa Tapas Lunch in our Wild Cafe too. A scrumptious vegetarian mezze spread enjoyed even by those who do eat meat. Designed to be a light bite that fills without being too heavy it’s a perfect option before or after your spa day.

“Are your Oula products available to use during my visit? And can I buy them?”

It sounds as though you love our products as much as we do! Our Oula shampoo, conditioner and hand/body wash is provided in the showers in the indoor spa to use, as well as in the hotel rooms. If you would like to take some home with you, you can purchase all of our Oula products from our spa and Create Shop.

Our therapists designed Oula amenities using the wisdom of nature, symbolised by the Cornish word for Owl, ‘Oula’ represents the benefits of natural ingredients that uplift the mood and degrade naturally without harming the environment. All the ingredients are ethically sourced, fairly traded and organic – what’s more Cornish ingredients have been used wherever possible and all the ingredients are fully traceable back to their source – we wanted to make sure we knew where everything came from and how it got to us.

“Do you have any spa special offers?”

Yes, we like to create special offers that change with the seasons to give you the best experience and benefits of each one. From Autumnal day spa offers that help to ease tired muscles to Sunset Spa Garden session that invigorate and relax. “What time can I have a treatment? And what time are your facilities open?”

Treatments – 10am-9pm, other times are available on request in advance.
Indoor spa area – 9am-9pm (9am-9.30am for family spa use, must be booked in advance)
Indoor pool – 8am-9pm (adult only swim time from 8am-9am and 6pm-7pm.)
Sensory Spa Garden – 10am- 6pm (the last booking slot is at 4:45)
