Planning an extra special Mother’s Day…

By February 22, 2019Things to do

The best gift you can give to mum is quality time, so she will be delighted if you’re spending this Mother’s Day together. If you’d like to ensure her day is extra special, make plans around what she really loves doing but might not always have time to enjoy.

If she’s an outdoorsy type who will jump at the chance to pull on her walking boots, plan in a picturesque walk at one of her favourite places, or if she’s quite the fashionista, how about heading out for some retail therapy? Our best piece of advice is to ensure the day is all about her.

A perfect way to start the day’s celebrations, cook up a storm and serve your beloved mum breakfast in bed. If she rarely gets the chance to relax, a morning off will be welcomed, so encourage her to sleep-in whilst you take care of the rest. If she has a penchant for croissants or freshly baked goodies, best head to the local bakery to stock up on her favourites. Or perhaps she would rather wake up to the smell of bacon and eggs?

Thoughtful gifts

The best gifts given are those which have been bought with intention. Does mum have a favourite perfume? Or could you surprise her with the vase she spotted in that antiques shop a few months back? There’s nothing more heart-warming than watching a loved one’s face light up when they unwrap something meaningful.

Say it with Sunday lunch

‘Lunch is on us’ will be music to mum’s ears. Being treated to tasty food and saving on the washing up is a recipe for success, especially if it’s mum who often does the cooking.  Bring your own children along too and extend the invite to the wider family – the perfect excuse to get everyone together. And if the Spring sunshine is shining, burn off lunch with a walk at a local beauty spot.

Each year there’s a lovely atmosphere in our Wild Café during the Mothering Sunday celebrations. Lunch is served on sharing platters, bringing you closer together, we cater to all tastes and dietary requirements and even provide an extra little treat – usually something sweet. Don’t forget to book!

Time in the spa

This is a real treat which will leave mum with lasting benefits even after you leave. Our spa has a carefully crafted treatment menu, consisting of a range of therapies focusing on different areas of the body. A perfect remedy for busy mums is a neck, back and shoulder massage, which will heal any tension and leave her feeling completely rejuvenated. You could also book a spa day package which will give you time together in our indoor spa.

And if you can’t be there in person this year…

Pop one of our personalised gift vouchers in the post, or if you’re short of time, email it direct to make mum smile when she checks her inbox. They can be used against any stays, experiences or bookings across all areas of the hotel and spa.

Whoever your mother figure may be, we hope this has provided a little inspiration on how to thank her for everything this year. Our Mothering Sunday lunch is £18.50 for two courses – to book please call the Wild Café Team on 01637 861 212.  You can find out more about our spa here.
