Places to take Mum in Cornwall this Mothering Sunday 2018

Mothering Sunday is fast approaching, so we thought we’d lend a helping hand and give you some ideas of places in Cornwall that you can take your Mum:

Woods Café

Woods Café is a hidden gem in the middle of Cardinham Woods. The cafe is family friendly and surrounded by beautiful woodland – perfect for exploring with the little ones and/or four-legged friends. On Mothering Sunday they will be serving lovely lunches and a variety homemade treats. There will also be live music at 1pm from Emma Chamberlain, crafts for the kids and extra undercover seating in case it rains.

Eden Project

Take Mum or Gran for a delightful stroll around the beautiful gardens at the Eden Project. Eden is offering free entry for mums and grans this Mothering Sunday, so you can take them on a spectacular floral tour of the world through their gardens indoors and out. A delicious roast will be served in the Eden Kitchen with meat, vegetarian and children’s options available too.

If your Mum would like to do something a little different, we have the perfect activity for you! The Surf Club Cornwall is based within the grounds of our hotel and Nick teaches professional surf lessons just down the road on Mawgan Porth beach. To book either call 01637 860666, sign up at our reception desk or send Nick a message on Facebook.

The Tate Gallery

The Tate Gallery in St Ives is the ideal place to take any arty Mum for a day out. The gallery holds the national collection of British art from 1500 to the present day, as well as international modern and contemporary art. There is also a café within the gallery that overlooks Porthmeor Beach and the Atlantic Ocean if you fancy a bite to eat.

Tintagel Castle

Immerse yourself in history, myths and stunning scenery at Tintagel Castle, set high on Cornwall’s rugged north coast. This one is for Mum’s that like history and an outdoor adventure. Inextricably linked with the legend of King Arthur this dramatic castle and coastline has fired the imaginations of writers, artists and even the brother of a king. Now it’s your turn to be inspired.

Sunday Lunch

Come and join us this Mothering Sunday for a delicious locally produced Sunday Lunch. Here at our Wild Café we like to do things a little differently and bring the family Sunday lunch to you, therefore all the food on our Sunday Lunch menu is delivered straight to your table on platters ready for you to share.

Lost Gardens of Heligan

This genuine secret garden was lost for decades; its history consigned to overgrowth. Heligan is a great place to go and explore with over 200 acres of garden at your disposal and exciting history to learn. Whether you’re looking to experience a traditional Cornish Cream Tea or sample some of the fruit and vegetables grown at Heligan, the Heligan Kitchen and Bakery have got it all. You and Mum are sure to have an enjoyable day out.

National Trust

The National Trust has a variety of Mothering Sunday activities running throughout the South West. From candle making at Trerice to Sunday roasts at Cothele to seed planting at Trelissick. Spend time together as a family surrounded by historic properties and stunning landscapes.

Spa Day

You can’t beat a good pampering every now and again, so why not treat Mum this Mothering Sunday. Here at Bedruthan you’re the most important part of your spa day. Our collection of spa therapies are inspired by nature and have been carefully combined to offer a choice for people of all ages. We would recommend our Mother & Daughter Spa Day, but the choice is up to you.

Scarlet Hotel

If you think your Mum could do with some time to relax in the spa, an indulgent three-course meal or even a luxury stay, our sister hotel, the Scarlet Hotel, is a luxury eco-hotel just for grown-ups. Scarlet is just down the road from Bedruthan and is a peaceful escape for adults to recharge their batteries. Discover a restorative, calm and warm atmosphere and service tailored to individuals needs.
