Five reasons to bring children to Bedruthan

By August 19, 2019Families

Looking back on family holidays spent as a child, what do you remember fondly? Running hand in hand across the hot sand, skipping over the foamy waves with siblings, catching the drips and tasting each other’s ice creams, feeling grown up during dinner and staying up until sunset? More often than not, it’s simple moments spent together which create the most lasting memories.

Quality time together lies at the heart of our family breaks. A chance for parents to be in the moment away from daily distractions, and for children to simply be children, playing, discovering and learning. Bedruthan will act as your sanctuary at the end of a busy day, home from home, and natural canvas full of possibilities for family adventures. All you’ll need to do is choose how each day unfolds…

1. Explore a natural playground
Our setting is rather special, with picturesque landscapes wrapping neatly around our grounds. Reach new heights by setting off along the South West Coast Path, renowned for its beauty and special views reserved for only those who walk it. Challenge the teens by taking them to secluded coves such as Bedruthan Steps Beach, or head into the Mawgan Porth to finally book that family surf lesson. Little legs may wish to stick to Mawgan Porth beach, a family-friendly playscape right on our doorstep. Stroll down armed with fishing nets and buckets to explore the caves and river for treasures and sea life left by the tide as it begins to ebb.

2. Dine together in one of our restaurants
The Wild Café offers a wonderfully relaxed vibe and rustic-inspired menu favoured by many, but you’re not restricted to just one restaurant during your stay. If you would like to share a sophisticated treat, you may dine together in our Herring restaurant between 6:00pm-6:30pm each day. There’s plenty of choice for you to indulge in for one, two or three delightful courses.

3. Children’s programme
During the school holidays we always provide a daily programme of activities, designed to stimulate a child’s imagination. Some sessions are for children only, whereas others are parent and child sessions so you can spark creativity and make memories together. We also provide evening entertainment, kids clubs and two hours complimentary kids club sessions (subject to availability) for every day you stay with us.

4. Spacious family suites and apartments
Our different room types are sympathetic to families of different sizes, to ensure a comfy stay for all. Our apartments boast plenty of space so bigger kids can enjoy a little independence, whereas our family rooms have clever room dividers which offer a little privacy for parents once the children are off to sleep, but allow you to keep an eye on light sleepers. If you’re unsure which room type will work best for you, our friendly reservations team will be happy to advise.

5. Child-friendly spaces
After a long journey or should the weather be looking a little unpredictable, you may wish to stay within the realms of the hotel, and you won’t be limited on space or things to do! Bigger kids will love playing pool or heading to the games room, whilst tots can burn off steam in our indoor play area, Jungle Tumble. Step outside to be greeted by an assault course, trampoline and vast open spaces perfect for lawn games.
