Explore the great outdoors from theatre to festivals in Cornwall

The festival season is on its way and this summer we want you to make the most of the sunshine in Cornwall whilst it’s out. Here are some of our favourite outdoorsy events:

Eden Sessions
Throughout June and July
The Eden Sessions started in 2002. They are a series of concerts held at the Eden Project in the summer with an incredible backdrop of the biomes. This year they have another amazing line up including Bastille, Madness, Royal Blood, Blondie, Van Morrison, Bryan Adams and Foals.

Leopallooza
28th-30th July
Leopallooza is a multi award-winning independent festival that is returning for it’s eleventh year. They bring hundreds of the most new and established bands, djs and solo artists to their lush wooded valley close to the beautiful Cornish coast. To celebrate their eleventh birthday, they have extended the festival to three days.

Port Eliot
27th-30th July
This is a festival unlike any other, it’s a magical weekend set in the Port Eliot estate. Whether you’re swimming in the estuary, picnicking under a 300 year old tree, rocking out at the Park Stage, canoeing on the river, or dancing ‘till the wee hours in the Boogie Round – they invite you to their little corner of Cornwall.

Kneehigh – Tristan & Yseult 
5th-9th June
This critically acclaimed production catapulted Kneehigh onto the national stage. This is the original tale of forbidden desires, broken hearts and the agony of choosing one human being over another. Seen through the eyes of the ‘Unloved’, Tristan & Yseult blends comedy, live music, grand passion and tender truths, in an irresistible night of love. Tristan & Yseult will be performed at the Minack Theatre in June.

Skylight Mobile Outdoor Cinema
TBC
Skylight have over five years of experience in outdoor screens and have built up a reputation all over the UK. They have put on a variety of events in very fitting locations from Italian Job drive in movie to the Blaire Witch Project in the woods to Mamma Mia on the beach. Boardmasters
9th-13th August
Boardmasters Festival returns to Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach. At the Watergate Bay site you will find music from Two Door Cinema Club, Jamiroquai, ALT-J and many more, as well as camping facilities. At the Fistral Beach site you will find all surfing, skate, BMX, shopping and beach activities.

Wildworks
11th-29th July
Wildworks will be performing Wolf’s Child at Trelowarren Estate, a tale of ‘Mother’ and when a wolf attack leaves her injured she sends her most trusted girl into the woods in her place. This is a story for all the senses, which stirs the soul and explores the very essence of being human.

Electric Beach Festival
16th-17th June
The Electric Beach Festival comes to you from a new location on the golden shores of Great Western Beach, Newquay. Expect world class acts, hip-hop, dance and reggae. All with the sound of the waves lapping against the shore and the sand between your toes. Artists include Badly Dawn Boy, Cuban Brothers, Backbeat Sound System and many more.

Tunes in the Dunes
30th-2nd July
Tune in the Dunes is a unique festival set on the beautiful golden sands of Perranporth beach in Cornwall. This year’s artists include Clean Bandit, The Levellers, Izzy Bizu, KT Tunstall and many more. Now in its third year the festival is developing with two extra stages, a waterslide, yoga, a children’s play area and lots of other surprises.

Bedruthan Hotel – Miracle Theatre and Illyria
June and August
Every year we work with award winning theatre companies to perform on our stunning sea view lawn for a summer of open-air theatre. This year Miracle Theatre will be performing The Third Policeman on 22nd June a surreal, comic adventure written by Irish writer, Flann O’Brien. And Illyria will be performing their cheeky rendition of the timeless classic Hans Christian Andersen Story: The Emperor’s New Clothes on 2nd and 15th August. Tickets are available to purchase now.
