Cornwall celebrates what Samuel Johnson described as the art of uniting pleasure with truth at the fifth annual Bodmin Moor Poetry Festival from May 27th to 29th.
There’s a varied menu of readings, workshops, music and visual art, as well as a poetry walk. On the Saturday morning, an early morning yoga session will loosen you up for taking part in a poetry writing workshop. There will even be a Flamenco dancing demonstration.
As for the poets themselves, there’s a mix of established names, younger stars and amazing new discoveries including: John Harvey, Pascale Petit, Declan Ryan and T S Eliot prize-winner Sarah Howe.
There will be poets of all ages and styles – their only common theme, according to the festival’s organisers, will be their excellence.
Do make sure you catch Lebanese poet Zeina Hashem Beck. Her extraordinary mix of passion and politics, fire and tenderness mark her out.
