Eggcellent things to do in Cornwall this Easter

By January 30, 2019Families, Things to do

Cornwall is putting on quite the show this Easter, so if you’re lucky enough to be spending the holidays here, your whole family is in for an egg-citing treat! Children, parents and even granny and grandpa will be able to enjoy the warmer weather, plenty of fresh air and fulfilling activities. Whether you fancy taking your mini culture vultures along to a chocolate egg hunt at a National Trust site, heading to the beach for a spot of wild swimming or making the most of our full activity programme at the hotel, you won’t be short of things to do. Take a look at our top picks…

Delve into history at St Michael’s Mount
7 – 22 April 2019
Curiouser and curiouser – follow a trail around the harbour and village, and learn about the people who have visited and the people that have called the Mount home, as you hunt for answers to receive a chocolate surprise! The harbour is steeped in history; a dairy lawn where cattle grazed, an underground tram transporting provisions from harbour to castle summit and bronze footsteps to commemorate where visiting royals have stood. Once you’ve completed the Easter Extraordinaire, we would recommend a visit to the castle. The National Trust volunteers are fantastic with children, who’ll love hearing the age old tale of Jack the Giant Killer.

Hunt for Cadbury Eggs at Trelissick Gardens
6-22 April 2019
Trelissick is once again taking part in the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt this year. The garden will be full of clues to find and puzzles to solve, bringing you closer to the chocolate prize. Discover how the garden grows and how it’s looked after by both the gardeners and the creatures who call it home. There’s fun around every corner and new things to learn and experience. Make sure the children put their explorer’s hats on as they venture into the garden and get closer to the beauty of nature.

Farm themed fun at Eden
6– 25 April 2019
Eden guarantees a fun-packed day out this spring at their farm-themed Easter event! They’ve got lots of new indoor and outdoor games and activities for the whole family to try out. Take part in a Golden Egg hunt with a difference; search high and low throughout the biomes and keep your eyes peeled as you make your way around Eden. Try to spot all of the elusive eggs – the best egg-hunters will be rewarded with delicious chocolate prizes! Challenge friends and family to the giant scramble course to get some farmyard animals safely back in their pens. Plus, pick up special Easter prizes and chocolate treats to enjoy during your visit.

Adventures for all at Bedruthan
1st – 17th April
Bring the whole family and enjoy the freedom to just be together, explore new spaces and escape the pressure of hosting. Spend your days playing games together on the beach, surf until sundown, try family yoga for the first time, or enjoy a little R&R time in the spa whilst the children make friends at kids club. School holidays really are our speciality, and although our activity program changes with the seasons, you can be sure the children will always be entertained. Past activities have included the chance to meet a real-life mermaid, songs and sea shanties and a range of crafts keep the little creatives occupied.

Solve a mystery at Trebah Garden
29 March – 15 April
The popular Easter Trail at Trebah Garden is returning this year. The Trebah eggs have warmed up in the Spring sunshine and sprouted legs, running a mock in the garden. Can you help identify what is hatching from each egg to receive a chocolate prize? Follow the trail around the garden to find the answers. When you’ve reached the end, the children can burn off their tasty prizes with further fun in the play area, or you can wander around the beautiful gardens together.

We hope this has given you plenty of ideas for mini-Cornish adventures this Easter. If you’re searching for further inspiration, have a read of this blog on how to make a sustainable Easter treat jar.

‘This was our 3rd visit to Bedruthan and we had a lovely stay as always. There is lots to keep the kids entertained at the hotel and its only a short walk down to the beach. The kids loved the early tea and we could then relax in the evening and enjoy a nice meal using the listening service. We will definitely be back again!’
