Calling all keepers of the (in)famous Bedruthan purple carpet!
Do you have, stashed away somewhere, a souvenir sliver of that vibrantly-hued carpet that covered most of the floors, and even some of the walls, here at Bedruthan in the 1960s, 70s and 80s?
Were you one of our many guests who, when we refurbished the hotel a few years back, took a strip as a memento of many happy holidays spent here with us?
If you were, then we have a special request for you. Could you share a sliver of your souvenir to give to a fellow Bedruthan devotee, desperate to secure a piece for her mum?
Zoe Purslow has been coming to stay with us with her parents since she was a child. Last week, her boyfriend Dan Mellor (a very clever fellow who knew just how much Bedruthan means to her) whisked Zoe away for a holiday, and surprised her with a stay at Bedruthan and a marriage proposal on Mawgan Porth Beach.
Zoe accepted, and she and Dan were sharing their happy news with Debbie Wakefield, one of the sisters that runs Bedruthan, when Zoe mentioned that there was just one thing that would make her stay with us perfect: a slice of that purple carpet!
You see, Zoe’s uncle managed to secure himself a piece back when the refit took place, but Zoe’s mum missed out and she has, apparently, felt bereft ever since. Zoe would dearly like to surprise her mum with a step-back-in-time memento of their time here together.
So, can you help? Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you’d be willing to share and we will be forever grateful!
