It’s that time of year again, new seasons mean a new colour palette and the geniuses at Pantone have predicted a beautiful set for AW16. This season’s top 10 features uplifting blues Riverside and Airy alongside dependable grey Sharkskin and shades that pop like Spicy Mustard and Bodacious.
Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute, Leatrice Eiseman, explains the thinking behind this seasons palette: “The desire for tranquility, strength, and optimism have inspired a Fall 2016 colour palette that is led by the Blue family. Along with anchoring earth tones, exuberant pops of vibrant colours also appear throughout the collections.”
Airy Blue gives a much needed feel of serenity, offering a clean and weightless quality that can be worn right through to Spring and onto Summer. This polka dot shirt from Custommade is our must have piece, in a light weight, silk fabric that is so versatile and feminine, it would look amazing dressed up or down.
You can’t go wrong with a dependable grey, this shade has an edge yet manages to remain the perfect neutral to base the rest of your wardrobe around. Our key grey piece for Winter has to be the O’Neill Frontier Parka, in an all new shorter length this coat really is all singing, all dancing, fully waterproof with taped seams, an adjustable waist and a super cosy faux fur hood.
The bold Aurora red with warm undertones is the perfect hue for packing a punch into your outfit. To really make a statement, try the Cherry Simmy Mid-Top sneaker from up and coming shoe designer Rose Rankin. Crafted from a burgundy leather, the red pony skin panelling with fun polka dot design is perfect for adding that unique finish.
As you may have noticed from the cover of our AW16 lookbook, we are all over mustard tones at the moment. Of course, we still really love our sunny yellows, but this colour has a splash of spice to make it that little more autumnal. We absolutely have to recommend the Funysville coat from french brand American Vintage. It is the most gorgeous mustard shade and is beautifully tailored so will still be stylish season after season.
Another classic autumn shade, Potter’s Clay adds a degree of sophistication to any outfit. With hints of orange, rust and deep chestnut brown, the Safari Patchwork boots, from London based footwear designer Penelope Chilvers, show this warm, earthy colour at it’s best. A modern take on a classic chelsea boot, they have metallic gold panelling and contrasting yellow suede, replicating the shades of Autumn leaves.
