Cornwall Twestival Local raised money for CHICKS
Our Twestival event raised more than £2,600 for the charity, CHICKS (Countryside Holidays for Inner City Kids)! CHICK provides free respite breaks for disadvantaged and vulnerable children aged 8 to 15. They include children in care, those suffering poverty, illness or bereavement, child carers, victims of abuse and crime and children whose parents are addicts. Aren Grimshaw, one of the organisers of Twestival Cornwall Local, said "We are delighted with the amount of money that has been raised for CHICKS. Thanks to the generosity of guests, we exceeded our fundraising total. Thank you to everyone that attended and to the businesses who sponsored the evening. Thanks also to Andrew Weaver of Live Events South West who helped to put us in touch with performer Sophie Stokes" Naturally with a venue so closely associated with the sea, the event's theme was beach chic, with more than 70 people attending. Held on 12th September 2009 and forming part of a series of Twestival local events around the globe we were proud to host the event for Cornwall. The evening kicked off with one of Cornwall's best up and coming blues and soul inspired vocalist, Sophie Stokes. Sophie performed while guests mingled, enjoyed the delicious buffet and enjoyed drinks courtesy of St Austell Brewery. The headline act was one of Cornwall's best known vocalists, Paul McGahan who took to the stage with his band Breakthru. Hosted by Pirate FM's James Martin, auction prizes inclued: A big thank you goes to local companies who sponsored Cornwall Twestival Local; including Bedruthan Steps Hotel, Deborah Clark Associates, Niddocks Internet Marketing, PFA Research, Radix Communications, Scarlet Hotel, Tonick Media, Newquay Airport, Business Link, Worldwide Financial Planning and UKNetWeb.
