St Piran's Day: Children Cook up some culinary delights
![]()
Children visiting Newquay took to the kitchen to create culinary delights in celebration of St Piran's Day at the Bedruthan Steps Hotel last week, writes Kimberly Middleton.
The members of the hotel's children clubs perfected their crimping techniques when they used crates of local ingredients to make cheese and beef pasties for lunch. While munching through their creations the children enjoyed a fun-packed day of education and activities about the history and story of the patron saint.
Chefs also cooked up local treats to celebrate the day, which included more pasties, home-made saffron buns, fudge and cream teas.
Tracey Williams, childcare manager, said: "This has been a fantastic day and all the children have enjoyed making their own Cornish pasties.
"Not only have we been able to educate local children about Cornwall's history but we have also found that the children staying in the hotel have gone away having learned more about their favourite holiday destination in a fun and informative way."
