Surf lessons
You can't holiday in Cornwall without testing the temperature of the Atlantic Ocean and what better way to experience Cornwall's beach lifestyle than to have a surfing lesson at Bedruthan.
Surfing is exciting, exhilarating and of course lots of fun for all ages so come and catch some waves. Whatever you decide, we are sure you will have the expert tuition required to get you on your feet!
Who will teach me?
Bedruthan's BSA approved and fully qualified instructor, Nick, offers quality and professional tuition to all ages (min age is 8) and abilities. Whether you want an easy afternoon of fun in a group or a one-on-one intensive lesson, Nick is on hand to tailor your session, making sure you get the most out of your time in the water.
Will I be cold?
In Cornwall the Gulf Stream keeps the water temperature up and our prevailing south-westerly wind keeps the air mild, enabling us to surf all year round. Our wetsuits are sought from a British surf company that understands the needs of surfing in Britain. We can now proudly offer you the luxury of a heated wetsuit!
Due to lower water temperatures in winter (Nov-March), we are unlikely to teach children under 12 years old, but there may be some exceptions so please ask us at the time of booking.
How long is it and what will I do?
Our sessions are generally 2 hours long. Where individuals have had one full lesson already they may be able to book a 1 hour top-up/refresher session. Lesson times are flexible and to make the most of the conditions we are typically able to surf through the tides, however we do suggest that good lesson times are 10am, 12.30pm or 3.30pm.
Beginner sessions aim to enable the participant to learn how to surf safely, determine the safest conditions to venture out in and reach standing on the board by the end. Improver or intermediate level surfing lessons take individual ability into consideration and then are tailored to requirements.
How much is it?
All our Bedruthan surf lessons are private and exclusive to you and your party and this is reflected in the prices as follows:
1:1 session £75, 2 people £80, 3 people £90, 4 people £105, 5+ £25 per person
